23 February 2023. Can a main character have a limited shelf life and easily be dispensable? That can be a toughie to answer particularly when the individual has potential further down the timeline.

Without sounding totally heartless, I have no trouble killing off (or retiring) a character, although they may argue their case to stay!

Early on in my first book 𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮’𝙨 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 I wrestled for a long time whether to let one character go, and it got to the point one night when I dreamed that his parents were banging down my front door demanding to know why I had killed their son - when all these people do not exist!  I deemed this as proof of my writing passion❤️
